I ❤ Music & I embrace Technology!
In general, I hate to label anyone or anything, but since it's the only way to describe myself here, I would consider myself as a restless entrepreneur who loves to connect with other innovators and enjoys using his network and experiences in order to enable other people to get the most out of their projects. I am a socio-economic idealist by heart and a life-artist by choice.
While others write books, songs, paint or create sculptures, I write concepts and business plans for products and services at the intersection of music and tech, when I am not busy consulting startups or artists.
I don't believe that achievement can be measured by financial success but only by the enhancement of the personal status-quo of satisfaction.
I believe that curiosity for new trends and an open mindset is key for building anything sustainable.
Innovation can only happen through collaborations. We live in the age of exponential growth and access to technology has never been easier. No individual (no, not even Elon Musk), nor any company has expertise in every possible field that needs to be considered in order to create truly innovative products or services. Hence, knowledge transfer is mandatory to understand the world of tomorrow. Ignorance, arrogance and egoistic behavior are the coffin nail for every venture. The future lies in eco-systems, not ego-systems.
The creative industries – most of all the music economy – is always at the forefront when it comes to applying new technology. I have been in the music world since I was 5 years old and I went through a lot in the technology world since I founded my first startup Nagual Sounds. It has been a rocky road but it was worth it. 😉
I chose to make my passion my everyday profession.
Hit me up if you want to talk music, innovation, creative technology, or how to build ecosystems.
I believe that everyone has a story to tell. Tell me yours!
I am a serial entrepreneur and innovation enabler who bridges the worlds of music and technology. In 2011, I co-founded the meanwhile international recognized and multiple awarded music-tech startup Nagual Sounds, opening a whole new world for adaptive and interactive music experiences at the time. I left the operative business of Nagual Sounds in summer 2015 to start the help-initiative Friedrichshain Hilft e.V. and worked as Managing Director of a refugee camp, which he built from scratch and established until April 2016. You can read about my experiences here and here (only German). Continuing my work with refugees, I then founded the Social Startup ZwischenWerk and started – together with other smart minds – the project Creative Coding School to teach socially disadvantaged people skills in emerging technologies, such as robotics and IoT. In addition to these activities, I worked (and still do) as a freelance consultant for start-ups in the creative industries. I curate interdisciplinary art and music projects. My passion for music and the great possibilities of new technologies led me to join Music Tech Fest in summer 2016 for which I worked until December 2017. In July 2017, I have founded the world’s first Federal Association of Music Technology, MusicTech Germany and just recently founded the creative-tech innovation catalyst WickedWork. I also started the event series Music Unchained which had its launch at SXSW 2017. It focuses on the identification of new value creation opportunities for music through emerging technologies. My latest humanitarian project The Freegees combines the world of music, tech and social good. With The Freegees, I have started the first truly ethical music platform. Helping the poorest of the poor while at the same time bringing back value to music and arts. I am now building the MusicTech.Directory. A comprehensive database and network of all music innovators around the globe. Hit me up if you want to know more about me or the projects I am running.
